Information

The most important thing for you to do before you get serious about buying a new home is to find out what you qualify to buy. Getting pre-approved is relatively easy, with no obligation and is normally free.

You will need to call a mortgage broker or lender and complete a loan application where you will provide basic financial information and employment status. The lender will verify this information and then provide you with a pre-approval letter stating the dollar amount for which you qualify. To be recognized as a serious potential buyer, you must be pre-approved for a mortgage.
